Chinese Styled Fried Chicken Recipe Under Twenty-Five Minute

Everyone likes Chinese food and enjoys its mouth-watering taste. But have you ever wondered how they make such amazing delicacies or what its recipe is? One (1.2kilos) chicken, cleaned
Two bundles lemongrass, pounded
One bundle green onion
Half cup soy sauce
One-third cup brown sugar
Quarter cup Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing wine)
One tablespoon garlic, minced
One half teaspoons five-spice powder
One teaspoon salt
Half teaspoon pepper
cooking oil, (such as vegetable, corn, canola, or peanut oil)
One cup chicken stock, or 1/4 chicken bouillon cube dissolved in One cup hot water
One half tablespoons sugar
One tablespoon soy sauce
Three-fourth teaspoon five-spice powder
Two pieces star anise
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
One half tablespoons cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tablespoons water

Step 1: Marinade The chicken

Firstly, stuff the one-kilo chicken with lemongrass and green onions. Then in a bowl mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, cooking wine, garlic, five-spice powder, salt, and pepper. You have to mix it till the sugar dissolves completely. Then place chicken and soy sauce mixture in a large zip-top bag and seal it. Marinate it and keep it in the refrigerator overnight.

Step 2: Steam And Deep Fry The Chicken

To start cooking it, pre-heat the steamer. Then take the refrigerated and marinated chicken and drain it, keeping in mind to reserve the marinade. Then steam the chicken for fifteen minutes. After that, take it out from the steamer and brush it with the reserved marinade. Then refrigerate it again for about fifteen minutes.

In a deep, heavy-bottomed pan, pour some oil and heat it at 350°F on a deep-fry thermometer. Slice the chicken into quarters or eight pieces and deep fry it until the skin is golden and crisp in batches. Place it on paper towels to soak and remove excess oil.

Step 3: Make The Gravy

Then, for the gravy; put together chicken stock, sugar, soy sauce, five-spice powder, and star anise in a saucepan and boil it. After some time bring down the heat and let it simmer. Season it with salt and pepper to suit your taste. Then add the dissolved cornstarch and cook until the sauce thickens. After it is done, turn off the heat and remove any star anise pieces. Set it aside for the time being and keep it warm.

There you have it, a home-made fried chicken in Chinese style. Serve the fried chicken on a plate, by pouring some gravy on top of it. So with this recipe, you can enjoy the same richness and taste in your chicken at home that you pay to savor in restaurants.
